GHL Now Has Streamlined A2P Verification Using Chat Widget for Compliance

runnable

GoHighLevel has simplified A2P SMS verification by using the chat widget embed code as the compliance mechanism, with built-in terms/privacy policy, pre-submission validation, and automated brand/campaign registration — potentially replacing Signal House for client SMS.

GHL A2P Verification via Chat Widget (Streamlined Flow)

GoHighLevel has dramatically simplified the A2P SMS verification process. The chat widget embed code now serves as the compliance mechanism.

How It Works

  1. Chat Widget = Compliance — The GHL chat widget embed code includes terms and conditions and privacy policy automatically. This satisfies A2P compliance requirements.

  2. Pre-Submission Validation — GHL now checks your compliance pages BEFORE letting you submit. If your site doesn't have the widget/compliance pages live, it will fail the review check and won't let you submit.

  3. Steps:

    • Go to the A2P registration section in your GHL sub-account
    • GHL auto-populates business details (you can't even change them — it does it for you)
    • Add the chat widget snippet to your client's website (main site, not just funnel)
    • Push the site live (e.g., via GitHub deploy)
    • Click "Review Application" — GHL checks compliance automatically
    • If both checks pass, submit
    • Brand registration can get approved almost instantly
    • Campaign registration goes to "In Progress"
  4. Industry Selection — For lawn care/landscaping, "Consumer" was selected (agriculture was another option but seemed wrong). The exact industry classification matters for the campaign.

Key Discovery

  • GHL pre-validates so thoroughly that "it should not be possible for this to get disapproved"
  • Brand approval was nearly instant
  • The process replaces what Signal House was doing (A2P wizard, opt-in pages, etc.)

Implications for Agency Operators

  • For clients: Use GHL native A2P (chat widget compliance). No need for Signal House.
  • For your own agency outbound: Still use Signal House because GHL has messaging limits on native numbers that won't work for cold SMS volume.
  • Messaging limits can be removed by contacting GHL support after approval.

Action Items for Onboarding

  • Add the chat widget snippet to every client website as part of onboarding SOP
  • Push to live before submitting A2P
  • Make this the standard across all client websites
  • Add to onboarding skill/template

Cost Comparison

  • GHL native: ~8 cents/SMS (pay for inbound too)
  • Signal House: ~7 cents/SMS
  • The native integration benefits (missed call text back works, everything native) outweigh the 1 cent difference for clients
