Stripe Usage-Based Billing for Pay-Per-Lead Model
Pricing Structure
- One-time setup fee: $500
- Usage-based pricing: $50 per qualified lead
- Client pays: Meta ad spend directly
Architecture Components
1. Stripe Product Setup
- Create a product for "Done-for-you Facebook Ads Management"
- Setup fee as a one-time charge
- Usage-based component for lead billing
2. GHL to Stripe Connection
When a lead hits the "new lead" pipeline stage in GHL:
- GHL workflow triggers on pipeline stage change to "Close Won" or designated billing stage
- Sends webhook to n8n workflow
- n8n processes and creates Stripe invoice/charge
3. Automatic Card Charging
To automatically charge client's card instead of sending invoices:
- Store payment method on file during onboarding
- Use Stripe checkout session in subscription mode
- Enable auto-charge on usage thresholds
4. Billing Cycle Options
- Weekly: Best for high-volume lead gen, faster cash flow
- Bi-weekly: Balance between admin overhead and cash flow
- Monthly: Standard, aligns with 28-day billing cycle
5. Lead Tracking Trigger
GHL Trigger: Pipeline stage change to "New Lead"
→ Webhook to n8n workflow
→ n8n increments usage counter in Stripe
→ Stripe bills at end of cycle
Key Decisions
- Use "New Lead" as trigger (not appointment booked) since leads come through quiz funnel, not instant lead forms
- GHL handles deduplication natively for opportunities
- Weekly billing recommended for lawn care/landscaping due to seasonal nature
